Tina Haase Findlay has been a fixture of the Des Moines music scene for over 25 years. Originally from Algona, IA, she began performing publicly at age 3, and has gone on to make her musical mark in the fields of jazz, blues, rock, soul, gospel, commercial jingles, musical theatre, and beyond. A few highlights include:
Soloist with The Bob Weast Swingin' Big Band
Soloist with The Red Sneaker Dixieland Jazz Band
Notable stage roles including "Reno" in Anything Goes, Smokey Joe's Cafe, Assassins, The Rosa Parks Story, and "The Narrator" in Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Additionally, Tina is especially proud to be the only person in history to play two different roles, as well as serve as Musical Director, in her all-time favorite musical "Ain't Misbehavin', a tribute to Fats Waller.
Longtime favorite of the annual summer series "Jazz In July", having performed special "Giants of Jazz" tributes to two of her personal heroes, Ella Fitzgerald and the late great local jazz icon Irene Myles
Leader of the award-winning, Tina Haase and the Groove Merchants, blues band
Writer and Director of "The Eternal Brilliance of Ella and Billie", a highly-successful Drama Workshop musical production
Voice of the widespread regional/national campaign, "Iowa, You Make Me Smile!"
and most recently
Leader of the popular festival favorite blues/rock ensemble, Lady Blue
Tina's days and nights are filled with musical projects for herself and others, serving as a Managing Partner of Kaleidoscope CreatiVEntures along with her talented husband Brandon Findlay. She believes that, in the words of Stevie Wonder, "music is a world within itself, with a language we all understand." She looks forward to many more opportunities to passionately share her creativity with the world, and is continually grateful for her three most cherished companions in life, her best friend Karen, her daughter Dove, and her partner-in-rhyme Brandon, who are the inspirations behind her musical publishing title, KADOBRA Music.
